Milwauke, WI - On Wednesday, Luz Sosa, the community organizer for Acción Ciudadana de Wisconsin spoke about climate change during a joined press conference with 350.Org, an environmental group and the effects that contributed to the recent heavy rains that caused floods and mudslides in Perú. Sosa also says that business owners from the ACW Latino Caucus, which is part of the Citizen Action of Wisconsin have been so generous by donating food and other items to raffle at the "Todos Somos Perú" event. Sosa and members of the ACW have been working tirelessly to generate funds to provide relief aid for areas devastated by the abnormal El Niño downpours of rain causing floods in Perú.
An estimated 70,000 people have lost their homes and more than 70 deaths have been reported in Perú as a result of El Niño devastation in remote areas.
A fundraising event for Perú will take place at the Wherehouse Club, 818 S. Water St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from noon to 8:00 p.m.
