Milwaukee, WI - On Saturday, Nathan Binns, 17, was charged with two felony counts for first-degree reckless homicide with party to a crime and use of a weapon and a second count for attempted armed robbery with use of force and party to a crime. Dale Sonterrius Hall, 18, was also charged with two felony counts for felony murder including party to a crime and a second count for bail jumping for the July 29 murder of Montravis D. Johnson, 21, also known as "Monie." Both Binns and Hall are being held on $100K cash bail each. If convicted on both counts, Binns is facing up to 100 years in prison and Hall up to 21 years in prison.
Hall was previously released on a $500 cash bail for a March 3, 2015 felony charge for driving a vehicle without the owners consent. If convicted, Hall is facing up to 3 1/2 years in prison and $10K in fines.
Johnson was shot by Binns in the 2100 block of W. Greenfield Ave. after Hall and Binns attempted to rob Johnson of some cash. Johnson was seen flashing some cash by his vehicle, a Lexus near a corner store. Hall told police that a friend named Keith had called them after noticing Johnson flashing money around and wanted to rob him of some cash and marijuana. Hall approached Johnson and attempted to steal the money. When Johnson hesitated to turn over the money, Binns then shot him once.
Both Binns and Hall then fled the scene, but a Milwaukee police sergeant nearby heard the shot and saw both suspects flee the crime scene. The police sergeant ordered both suspects to stop, but Hall was the only one to stop and Binns continued to run. Binns was later apprehended by a police officer after a short foot pursuit and a revolver was recovered, according to the criminal complaint.
