Milwaukee, WI - On Saturday, Karina Sánchez Martin, originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico was selected as Miss Mexican Fiesta Ambassador 2015, according to the Hispanic Wisconsin Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (HWSF). HWSF sponsors the three-day Mexican Fiesta at the lakefront Summerfest grounds in late August.
Last year, the HWSF changed its discriminatory policy along with the National LULAC after awarding more than $2.5M in scholarships to only U.S. and legal permanent student residents. Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) was instrumental in reporting their scholarship award discriminatory policy and HWSF including the National LULAC soon after changed their policy and began to accept scholarship applications from undocumented registered DREAMers in 2014.
