Edinburgh, Texas - On Friday, La Joya Police Chief Geovani Hernández confirmed that a suspect who called their 911 nine times and threaten to killed a kidnapped U.S. Border agent has been identified by feds. Chief Hernández told the Monitor that the suspect forgot to hang up his phone in one of the calls and was heard using communication radio transmission codes used by drug cartels.
The suspect then realized he didn't hang up and got mad, then threatened the 911 operator that he was going to locate her and killed everyone at the police station.
The call led police and feds to trace the call to a 956 area code and identified the suspect and another suspect in a radio communition in Spanish. There identities are being withheld.
The U.S. Border Patrol in the Rio Grande Valley that has 3,100 agents in 32 Texas Counties has been trying to locate all its agents to assure they are accounted for. But since Friday, only agents reporting for duty have been accounted for and other agents enjoying the holidays or on vacation can't be reached to be accounted.
All U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley should contact their duty station to be accounted for as not missing.
