Armor Truck Bandits Escape With $2.6M In Italy

Police estimated a band of bandits robbed at least $2.6 from an armored truck.

Saronno Township, Italy - On Monday, a band of armor car robbers stole an estimated $2.6M after blocking a main highway with a large rig and then set it on fire. They were able to stop two armor trucks and blew open a door with explosives from one of them near the town of Saronno.
The armored truck was riddled with Ak-47's rifle fire and damage. 
Marco Melett, spokesman for the Gruppo Battistolli di Vicenza armor truck company told the ANSA news agency that only $2.6M was taken. The money was collected from local retail businesses, banks and private institutions and the exact total hasn't been determined as of yet, according to Melett.
Investigators reported, that the 10 robbers engaged in a shootout with police. During the gun battle, they were able to flee from the scene in three vehicles and eluded police.
No one was reported injured and police have made no arrests in the heist, according to ANSA.
