Madison, WI - On Tuesday, former five time Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson (R) defeated four conservative Republican challengers in the GOP Primary with 197,248 votes, 34 percent of the vote. Mark Neumann, one of the four candidates conceded early and endorsed Thompson for the U.S. Senate. Eric Hovde also conceded in the primary election, confirmed he won run again for public office and also endorsed Thompson. Jeff Fitzgerald was the first to concede in the race. All four republican candidates vowed to help Thompson win in November.
Thompson will now challenge democratic challenger Tammy Baldwin who ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary. Baldwin has openly admitted to being a lesbian. Both Thompson and Baldwin will face off in the November 6, General Election.
Thompson during his GOP Primary victory speech said, he wants to send President Barack H. Obama back to Chicago so, he can become a community organizer. A position that Obama can probably do well in Chicago, according to Thompson.
