Richmond, Virginia - On Friday, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson sentenced Edy Oliverez-Jimenez, 25, of Virginia Beach, Virginia also known for multiple aliases, "Daniel, Erasmo, Ulysses or Jesus" to two consecutive life terms. Oliverez-Jimenez was convicted in November for racketeering, murder, kidnapping, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and conspiracy to produce and transfer false identification documents.
He managed a cell that operated a fake ID operation in Little Rock and Virginia Beach. The Fake ID operation originated in Mexico and spread to 11 U.S. states and 18 cities, according to federal authorities.
The criminal organization produced high-quality false identification cards to illegal aliens. Oliverez-Jimenez supervised a number of “runners” who distributed business cards advertising the organization’s services and helped facilitate transactions with customers. The cost of fraudulent documents varied depending on the location, with counterfeit Resident Alien and Social Security cards typically selling from $150 to $200 each.
Oliverez-Jimenez was taken into custody along with 30 suspected members of the fake ID criminal organization that netted an estimated $1 million between January 2008 to November 2010. He was the only one that was convicted in the murder case. In July 2010, he apparently helped kidnapped a 17-year-old vendor who was a rival in selling fake ID's and murdered him in Little Rock, Arkansas.
