Milwaukee County Board Approved Colón's Appointment As Director of Health and Human Services

Hector Colón becomes the first Hispanic to head the Department of Health and Human Services in Milwaukee County.

Milwaukee - On Thursday, the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors on a vote of 16-3 approved the appointment of Hector Colón, as Director for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Milwaukee County. Supervisors Nikiya Harris, Michael Mayo Sr. and Lee Holloway rejected Colón's approval. Colón became the first Hispanic to head the department.
He was appointed to the DHHS position by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele on October 18th and had to be approved by the full county board.
Colón was the former executive director for the Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee; was the state director of Economic Development Authority; executive assistant in the state's Department of Workforce Development and a former executive assistant in the Department of Regulation and Licensing at the United Community Center.
