New York City, New York - On Tuesday, Governor Andrew Cuomo during a press conference unveiled the state's official September 11, Memorial Flag. On Sunday, the 9/11 flag will be flown at the New York state capitol and at the World Trade Center site to remember the 10th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
The Memorial Flag was designed to represent the attacks on 9/11/2001. The flag measures 45 inches x 60 inches and has 40 yellow stars to represent the people who lost their lives when United Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The five-sided figures represent the Pentagon, where 125 people died. At the center of the flag are the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in white and in blue background, where the greatest loss of life occurred on September 11, 2001.
Replica flags will be sold at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum to raise funds for the museum and an educational program, according to Governor Cuomo.
