Milwaukee -Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen on a press release on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 said, an operation conducted in partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities resulted in the arrests of 30 suspected criminal illegal aliens. The undocumented suspects were involved in criminal activity and had prior criminal records, according to Van Hollen. Federal and local authorities netted the suspects within four days from July 27th to July 30th.
“Criminal illegal aliens do not belong in Wisconsin. My partnership with ICE and local law enforcement continues to remove these threats to public safety and the neighborhoods and citizens they victimize,” Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said. “I am grateful to the agents and officers that execute these dangerous arrests of known criminals with no ties to Wisconsin except their criminal activity,” said Van Hollen.
23 suspects of those arrested were taken into custody in Milwaukee, three in Waukesha, two in West Bend, one in Allenton, and one in Cudahy. All had criminal arrests or conviction histories or had returned to the United States after a prior deportation, according to Van Hollen.
The 30 suspects who were not identified by Van Hollen or federal authorities are now pending immigration court proceedings or removal from the U.S., according to U.S. ICE.
